~Remember Me~
DeWayne Terrance King II
June 10, 1992 - November 7, 2010

This world is full of many different things
But never underestimate the tragedies it may bring
Life will present many different paths
Misgivings, frustrations and mishaps
The wrong route will present itself a million times
So let your conscious ring like wind chimes and choose to shine
Your feet will get tired and you will want to take the short route
Never take it, for when you do trouble can come about
Nothing is easy in this life you will see
So when you are down, remember me

Don’t let the world fill your heart with hate
Demonstrate an escape by carrying faith
Seek GOD and allow him to choose your destiny
Don’t let the world blind you so you cannot see the iniquities
Think of the good instilled inside of you
And it will give you what you need to make it through
Think of all the memories we had and be glad
For life allowed the good to outweigh the bad
Think of all the love I gave before my soul was set free
Carry it inside of your heart, and remember me

Hold It Down Until We Get There

WORDS

Pull the trigger, shoot me as I run
From the phrases ricocheting from your mouth like a loaded gun
So you say I am nothing, nor will I ever be
Worthless and I am no one is how you just defined me
Take my sanity, toss it to the ground
From the sound of vowels and constanants transformed to nouns

WORDS

A tainted token of a spoken mass of negativity that grows
With pain so unbearable so, think as you let them flow
From your mouth, they scar, it is a proven fact
That once said you can never retrieve them to take back
Words are like a clock spoken every second on the hour
Be cautious they are deadly and holds so much power

THE POET IN ME

GOING THROUGH LIFE I STOP AND SEE
LIFE IS FILLED WITH GREAT STRENGTHS AND TRAGEDIES
THE EMOTION THAT I CAPTURE OF THIS WORLD THAT I AM IN
I HAVE LEARNED TO EXPRESS IT THROUGH MY PEN
MANY BROKEN HEARTS OF WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS LOVE
HEALING FROM FAITH WITHIN THAT COMES FROM ABOVE
LIKE YOU I HAVE EXPERIENCE THIS TOO
SO THROUGH MY WRITINGS MAYBE I CAN COMFORT YOU
FINDING A WAY TO LET YOU KNOW HOPE IS NOT GONE
BY GIVING YOU STRENGTH SO YOU CAN MOVE ON
LETTING YOU KNOW THAT ONE DAY YOUR TORMENTED HEART WILL BE FREE
THIS IS COMING FROM THE POET IN ME

WHEN YOUR BACK IS AGAINST THE WALL AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO
I HOPE SOMETHING I HAVE WRITTEN CAN INSPIRE YOU
TRUE THIS LIFE ISNT EASY AND TIMES CAN BE BAD
SEEING THE WORLD CHANGE FOR THE WORST CAN BE SAD
AT THESE MOMENTS BELIEVE WITH ALL OF YOUR MIGHT
THAT ONE DAY EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT
JUST LAY BACK AND LET MY WORDS DRIFT YOU AWAY
ALLOWING THEM TO BRING A LITTLE SUNSHINE TO YOUR DAY
MAYBE MY WORDS COULD HELP DRY A TEAR
OR PERHAPS THEY CAN EASE AWAY YOUR FEARS
I AM HOPING I CAN OPEN YOU UP TO GREATER POSSIBLITIES
THIS IS COMING FROM THE POET IN ME

Poetry ~ An Image

AN IMAGE

A tattered soul deeply displaced
Running full speed in a never ending race
Deep wounds with no visible scars
An image of a black man behind bars

Careless lessons of life gone by
Countless mistakes with no understanding of why
Long lost with no direction back
An image of a black mother on crack

Difficult circumstances with no vision of a way out
The consequences to this equation is self doubt
Pressure so strong it is hard to cope
An image of our black children with no hope

God is our guidance so never let go of faith
Without him these are the images the devil will create
Let the Lord in and you will be lifted higher
Making the devil what he truely is A LIAR!!!!!!!!!

Be Beautiful At Any Shade

Black Beauty Is More Than One Shade

What happens when the world tells you, you are not beautiful because you are not a certain shade?  What happens when products you love don't use people of your hue for advertisement?  What happens when the world makes you feel bad about yourself because you are not the image they strive to portray?  Who set the standards on what beauty is suppose to be?  How can you spend millions of dollars on products and still get a lack of notoriety? What happens when we become compulsively obsessed with changing our hair, nose, chin, cheekbones, skintone and body?  What happens when things totally go wrong?  We realize we were just fine exactly the way we were, but now its to late to change what has already been done.   If the world can make standards, then you can make them as well placing yourself way above any standard that has been set making YOU SIMPLY MARVELOUS!!!

Think Beyond Right Now

Thinking Beyond Right Now is reaching deep within yourself and forcibly restraining from falling victim to crime.  Sixty seconds can instantly make a dramatic life changing effect on the lives of your children, your parents, your peers and definitely your mind mentality.  From freedom to lock down is an earth shattering adjustment that will always be at the core of who you are.  Because society will never let you live it down.  It will become a permanent reminder of past mistakes. You might as well get them tatooed on you. All I am pleading is think, think, think, think, think please think and don't just throw your life away.

Be Authentic

Painting By:  Frank Morrison

Be Authentic

People will analyze you and apply their own perspective to others about you and half of the time they have pre-judged you.  Creating thier own stories of how you should or could be.  My advice is to never conform to what others think or say.  Create your own way that will define you.  Be you, do you, love you, be true to you, believe in you and never ever give up on you.  Be Authentic to yourself and others and you will never go wrong.

Believe that you can fly like a monarch butterfly
High in the sky in sync with the power that lies in me, myself and I
In tune to the world on a cloud of possiblities.
